Transcranial Evoked Potentials Can Be Reliably Recorded with Active Electrodes

چکیده
Electroencephalographic (EEG) signals evoked by transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) are usually recorded with passive electrodes (PE). Active electrode (AE) systems have recently become widely available; compared to PE, they allow for easier preparation and a higher-quality signal, due the preamplification at stage, which reduces electrical line noise. The performance between AE PE can differ, especially fast EEG voltage changes, easily occur TMS-EEG; however, systematic comparison in TMS-EEG setting has not been made. Therefore, we TMS-evoked potentials (TEPs) group of healthy subjects two sessions, one using other AE. We stimulated left primary motor cortex right medial prefrontal used different approaches remove early TMS artefacts, Independent Component Analysis Signal Space Projection—Source Informed Recovery. assessed statistical differences amplitude topography TEPs, their similarity, means concordance correlation coefficient (CCC). also tested capability each system approximate final TEP waveform reduced number trials. results showed that TEPs do differ topography, only few lower-than-expected CCC methods amplification. conclude viable solution recording.

متن کاملReliability of Motor Evoked Potentials Induced by Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation: The Effects of Initial Motor Evoked Potentials Removal
Introduction: Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a useful tool for assessment of corticospinal excitability (CSE) changes in both healthy individuals and patients with brain disorders. The usefulness of TMS-elicited motor evoked potentials (MEPs) for the assessment of CSE in a clinical context depends on their intra-and inter-session reliability. This study aimed to evaluate if removal ...

Extracting visual evoked potentials from EEG data recorded during fMRI-guided transcranial magnetic stimulation.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an effective method for establishing a causal link between a cortical area and cognitive/neurophysiological effects. Specifically, by creating a transient interference with the normal activity of a target region and measuring changes in an electrophysiological signal, we can establish a causal link between the stimulated brain area or network and the e...
